There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. Proverbs 6:16-19
In a recent Newsday Article, (****The NEWSDAY Article has been removed from the Newsday Website. Click here for an additional article from another News Source****) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone indicated that there is a “culture of corruption” in the County. Mr Bellone directly implicated the District Attorney, Thomas Spota, as being involved. Mr. Bellone called for District Attorney Spota to resign from office based upon this, “culture of corruption.”
Consequently, District Attorney Spota, who did not take kindly to the accusation, responded with his own accusation, claiming that Steve Bellone has a “personal vendetta against me for investigating and prosecuting people that he is close to…”
So which is it? Is it the County District Attorney who is corrupt? Is it the County Executive who is corrupt? Or are they both part of the “culture of corruption?”
It is my personal belief that there is, has been, and will continue to be a “culture of corruption” in Suffolk County that includes, but is not limited to, the County Executive and the County District Attorney. The public display of finger pointing between the two is an indicator of just how bad things are.
As your County Sheriff, my first order of business will be to clean up this culture of corruption that plagues our county. I will investigate all allegations of wrongdoing, I will present my findings before the Grand Jury, and I will arrest the violators based upon a Grand Jury indictment.
The “culture of corruption” in Suffolk County is real and everyone is subject to oversight by the People through the Grand Jury.
It is time to change the face of Suffolk County Government. It is time to transition from a “culture of corruption” to a culture of virtue, integrity and trust. I cannot do this alone!
Every legislative seat in Suffolk County is up for election this year. If you are a person of virtue, integrity, and trust, then please consider running for a legislative seat. If you are interested, please contact me at Peter@KraussforSheriff.com and we’ll get you on the ballot for November.
Anyone but them.
I’m not them…and neither are you.
